ClickFunnels Review (2022) – Here’s What You Need To Know

What is ClickFunnels?

Since you’re reading this review, you probably already have an idea of what ClickFunnels is. ClickFunnels describes itself as a platform that “gives you EVERYTHING you need to market, sell, and deliver your products and services online, without having to hire or rely on a tech team!”

At its core, ClickFunnels is a software that allows you to create sales funnels online. It was created in 2014 by Russell Brunson and his team, and since then, it has grown into a massive success.

Here are some ClickFunnels stats (as of the time of writing):

• it has around 136,000 active members at the time of writing.
• over 7.4 million funnels have been created on the platform.
• at least 300 entrepreneurs have generated over $1,000,000 using ClickFunnels, according to the 2 Comma Club.

Pretty impressive stuff, isn’t it?

Funnel Builder

Here are just some of the things you can create with ClickFunnels:

• landing pages of all kinds
• sales pages (with upsells, downsells, etc.)
• bridge pages
• lead capture pages
• webinars
• membership sites

And there are templates for every type of page you can create, so you don’t need to build anything from scratch.

In addition to this, you can create any custom page and put anything on it that you desire, quickly and easily.

That’s just the base ClickFunnels service. They also offer what is called the Platinum package, which includes Backpack, Follow-Up Funnels, Hack-A-Thons, and FunnelFlix.

Backpack

Backpack allows you to create a complete affiliate program for your sales funnels and products. You can set commission payout structures, create JV pages with affiliate tools, and much more.

Follow-Up Funnels

Follow-Up Funnels (formerly known as Actionetics) is a complete email autoresponder service that you can use to create “follow-up funnels”. This is an alternative to other email marketing platforms like GetResponse, and I’ll discuss more of my thoughts on it later in the review.

Daily Virtual Hack-A-Thons

Daily Virtual Hack-A-Thons are intense sessions that ClickFunnels holds every weekday where a funnel is built from start to finish.

A different type of funnel (high-ticket funnel, opt-in funnel, etc.) is scheduled for each day, and every person who joins in on the call is walked through the entire process of building their funnel.

FunnelFlix

Note: All ClickFunnels plans include access to FunnelFlix, but the Platinum and Two Comma Club X plans include additional training and content.

FunnelFlix is a full collection of trainings that teach the ins and outs of marketing and succeeding online.

In FunnelFlix, all of the trainings that ClickFunnels has ever created and has sold as separate products (including things like 10X Secret, Traffic Secrets, and the One Funnel Away Challenge) are available for access.

In addition to that, ClickFunnels has also included other training courses by major marketing influencers and mentors like Tony Robbins and Garrett J White.

Before I get into the meat and potatoes of the review, how to use ClickFunnels, what I like and don’t like about the platform, I want to talk about a few success stories.

These are people who have tried the software, often with skepticism, and seen amazing results with the funnels they have built.

Success Story #1

Brian Reese, a ClickFunnels user, accepted an business challenge some time ago to see if he could build a successful long-term business with only a small out-of-pocket investment.

A Quick Tour Of ClickFunnels

As I’ve already mentioned, ClickFunnels is a funnel builder that can create sales funnels. It can create landing pages of all types (lead capture, webinar signup, thank you, custom pages), sales pages, and even full membership sites that only members can access.

Let’s take a tour of the inside of the software!

Once you get your ClickFunnels account (which is very easy, and you can do as part of the funnel challenge) and log in, you’ll be taken to the main dashboard.

You won’t need to do much on the main dashboard, but you can access all the links you need here.

ClickFunnels puts what they call “cards” on the dashboard page. As you can see, one of them is an invitation to the Two Comma Club Live 3-day virtual conference.

It contains a calendar with upcoming events, your funnel stats, setup steps, affiliate earnings, and earned awards.

You can also access your profile settings, Follow-Up Funnels, FunnelFlix training, Backpack (if you have these), and the help section where you can read documentation and contact support.

But where you’re going to be spending most of your time is the Funnels section. Go to ClickFunnels -> Funnels.

Here you can build any funnel you want by clicking “Add New”. You can also access the Funnel Marketplace, where you can purchase access to professionally made funnels.

Some are free, while others cost money, but many of these funnels have already made huge money for people. You can get access to the entire funnel, including the emails, and use it however you want.

Now let me show you how easy it is to create a funnel. Click the “Add New” button on the funnel page, and you’ll be given the choice of the Cookbook Builder Process or the Classic Funnel Builder.

Cookbook Builder Process

With this option, you can explore an entire collection of pre-made funnel templates. In this “cookbook” style process, you can find just the right funnel for your business.

Now, if you already have an idea of what you want your funnel to look like (for example, an opt-in page and bridge page), then you don’t need the Cookbook Builder. In most cases, I would say that you don’t need to use it.

Classic Funnel Builder

This is their original step-by-step builder. It’s simple to use and gives a basic funnel framework fast.

Once you select this option, you’ll be given the choice to collect emails, sell a product, or host a webinar. Choose the funnel type that fits you best, or optionally select the “Create a Custom Funnel” option to simply build it from scratch.

Most of the time, I just select the custom funnel option. If you know exactly what your funnel will look like and want no restrictions, this is the best option.

Give your funnel a name, and hit “Build Funnel”. Your funnel will be created instantly and you can begin editing it.

In the funnel edit window, you can select each component of your funnel and choose any template you want to use, such as an opt-in template, sales page template, or webinar template. You can add as many new steps as you want and choose templates for each.

Once you select a template, hit the “Edit Page” button and edit it however you desire. You can also set up split tests (variations) and do other things while building your funnel.

Once you’re done building out and editing your funnel, you’re pretty much good to go! It’s a very simple process.

Custom Domain Or Not?

You can get the funnel URL from the interface, or you can optionally link a custom domain.

If you’re building a product funnel with a sales page, upsells, downsells, etc, I would definitely recommend using your own domain.

If you’re building an opt-in funnel to collect emails, it’s up to you whether or not you want to do it. I tend to think that an opt-in page on a custom domain will get a slightly higher opt-in rate, but that’s something that you can test yourself.

I recommend just getting in there and playing around. Check out the features and get a feel for everything.

A Quick Note On Integrating Email

If you’re building an opt-in page that collects emails and you’re not using Follow-Up Funnels, you’ll need to set up an integration with your email autoresponder.

This is quite easy to do. Just go to Account Settings -> Integrations, select “Add New Integration”, choose your service, and follow the prompts. I recommend GetResponse as an email service, and you can get your API key from them.

Once you set up your integration, you can easily integrate your email autoresponder into the opt-in forms on your funnel pages.

What I Like About ClickFunnels

Here are what I believe are the greatest strengths of the ClickFunnels platform:

1. You can do everything on it.

ClickFunnels is an all-in-one solution for your business. When they say that they give you everything you need to market and sell your products online, they really mean it.

This is because, in addition to being able to create every component of a funnel such as an opt-in page, bridge page, sales page, webinar page, and membership page, if you get the Platinum package, you also get access to their email marketing feature Follow-Up Funnels and their affiliate program creator Backpack.

I myself haven’t used Follow-Up Funnels and Backpack much, but from what I’ve seen and heard from others, these services do a great job. Whether or not you want to get them is up to you.

No matter what page type you want to create, there are a ton of high-quality templates for you to choose from (shown in above image).

And there are even full funnel templates that you can choose from in the Cookbook — 22, to be exact. These 22 funnel templates have been used by Russell in his own businesses to great success.

Let’s take the Bridge Funnel as an example. This is a simple funnel that consists of a squeeze page and bridge page; the squeeze page collects an email, and the visitor is immediately sent to the bridge page which contains a message.

And each of these funnel types come with an array of templates to choose from, both free and paid.

2. The editor is flexible and easy to use.

All these options for setting up funnels are all well and good, but what about the editor itself? If the editor is a pain to use, it can render everything else meaningless.

Fortunately, the editor is excellent. I’ll be honest: there is a learning curve. You’re going to need to take a few minutes to get the hang of the editor, but once you do, it becomes very easy to use.

Basically, pages consist of an ordered structure that goes Section -> Row -> Columns -> Elements.

Sections can be full-width or narrower. Rows are created inside sections, and they specify how many columns you want in the section. Inside columns, you can add elements such as headlines, paragraphs, forms, images and videos.

I’m not saying that there aren’t better page editors out there, but the ClickFunnels editor is certainly one of the better ones I’ve used.

Just go into a page and experiment. Over time, you’ll start to understand how powerful the editor is for page building. And the best part is: you don’t have to do any coding! It’s all drag, drop and type.

3. The affiliate program is one of the best online.

The ClickFunnels affiliate program isn’t as good as it used to be, but it’s still one of the best affiliate opportunities online right now.

If you’re not promoting ClickFunnels as an affiliate, you’re missing out, and here’s why:

Recurring Commissions

When you make a sale, you get a recurring commission every month as long as the person stays on the ClickFunnels subscription. As you get more and more people onto the platform, this really starts to add up.

Note: ClickFunnels changed their affiliate program rules. All new affiliates will start at 20% commissions for subscriptions, but they cannot promote subscriptions directly. The commission rate can go up to 40% if they can maintain at least 40 active accounts under them.

Recurring commissions are the best commissions you can receive, because they keep coming in without you having to do any extra work.

Large Selection of High-Ticket Offers

On top of the monthly commission for the basic ClickFunnels package, ClickFunnels also has products you can promote within their ecosystem that can make you commissions of up to $1000!

These offers pay out 40% commission. They give you the email swipes and other affiliate tools; all you need to do is plug it in and profit.

Sticky Cookies

ClickFunnels has what’s called sticky cookies. That means that if someone clicks your affiliate link to a ClickFunnels product and they make a purchase of ANY ClickFunnels product at ANY point in the future (a month later, a year later), you get the commission!

Most affiliate cookies last 1-60 days, but ClickFunnels cookies last forever.

ClickFunnels Works FOR You

When you promote any ClickFunnels product (the platform or one of their many other juicy products), your audience gets onto an email list in which ClickFunnels promotes the $97/month page builder and their other offers to them.

And if they make a purchase at any point down the road? You get the commission because of the sticky cookie.

Luxury Car

When you get 100 people to stick to their ClickFunnels trial, ClickFunnels will cover the lease of any car you choose up to $500/month. When you get 200 people signed up, ClickFunnels will cover up to a $1000/month lease.

This is enough to cover almost any luxury car. And it’s really not that hard to get this amount of people onto ClickFunnels. You just need to dial in your funnel and traffic source.

Share Funnels

Share funnels are ClickFunnels funnels that you share to others.

You can get the share funnel URL of any funnel in your ClickFunnels account by going into the funnel settings. Anyone who clicks this link can add this funnel directly into their ClickFunnels account.

If they don’t have a ClickFunnels account, they can sign up for a 14-day free trial right on the spot. And guess what? You’ll make commissions if they stick to this trial, because your share funnel URL acts as an affiliate link. Pretty cool, eh?

To make it easier for you, ClickFunnels has even created a Bootcamp specifically for affiliates. It walks you through how you can go about promoting ClickFunnels and making at least $4000/month in recurring commissions.

What I Don’t Like About ClickFunnels

1. The starter plan has a lot of limits.

With the Starter Plan ($97/month), you are limited to 20 funnels and 100 pages at any one time.

I don’t like software plans that limit you in this way. If you like to create lots of funnels, you may find yourself hitting this limit.

In addition, you can only have 3 custom domains in your account at any one time. This means that if you have multiple products being sold with multiple funnels, and you want to use your own domain for each, you could run into problems.

If you’re interested in ClickFunnels, be mindful of these limits. Even the Platinum Plan only allows up to 9 custom domains.

2. It takes time to figure out how to use the platform.

Because the scope of what ClickFunnels can do is massive, it can take some time to get the hang of it all. In particular, it can take time to learn how to use the editor, create sections, columns, elements, etc.

As I said before, there is a learning curve.

Fortunately, ClickFunnels has an excellent help section that contains documentation on pretty much everything, including getting started. If you get stuck on anything along the way, you can check check out the help docs or contact ClickFunnels support directly.

3. The software is pricey.

Considering what ClickFunnels can do for your business, the software is worth every penny.

But let’s be honest: $97 for the Starter Plan and $297/month for ClickFunnels Platinum isn’t cheap. Some people will have a hard time coping with this kind of price.

However, when you look at alternatives to ClickFunnels, you realize that page builder software in general is pricey. And there are really no other alternatives that can do what ClickFunnels does in terms of building entire funnels quickly and easily.

ClickFunnels Pricing Plans

Price is a big concern for people, and rightly so. You want to know if you’re getting your money’s worth, right?

ClickFunnels currently offers three main subscription plans: Starter, Platinum, and Two Comma Club X. Platinum was formerly called Etison Suite.

Starter Plan

The Starter Plan is $97/month, and it’s the cheapest plan. Under this plan, you’re allowed up to 20 funnels, 100 pages, 3 payment gateways, and 3 custom domains.

You also get access to the Funnel Hacker Forum, FunnelFlix, A/B split testing, and have pretty much the full functionality for building funnels.

ClickFunnels Platinum

ClickFunnels Platinum is $297/month. Yes, this is expensive on the surface, but considering that the software is supposed to be the backbone of your business, it’s actually not bad at all.

You get nearly everything that ClickFunnels offers under this plan. More specifically, you’re allowed unlimited funnels and pages, unlimited follow-up funnels, 9 custom domains and 9 payment gateways.

In addition to full funnel-building functionality, you also get access to:

• Follow-Up Funnels
• Backpack
• Additional FunnelFlix training
• Weekly Virtual Hack-A-Thons

Two Comma Club X

This is the elite ClickFunnels tier that costs a whopping $2,497/month. At the time of writing, Two Comma Club X is currently closed and you need to get on a waitlist if you want an opportunity to get in.

Under this plan, you’re allowed up to 10 users, 27 payment gateways and 27 custom domains. You also get additional FunnelFlix training and access to VIP phone support.

As far as I know, there aren’t any coupon deals for these plans, but there are a few ways you can save on the cost. If you want to be sure about what deals are currently available, I suggest contacting ClickFunnels support.

Cost Savings Way #1

The best way to save on ClickFunnels is to get the 14-day free trial. This trial period applies for both the Platinum and Starter Package, and during this period, there are no restrictions on what you can do.

This is why, when you first sign up for ClickFunnels, I recommend working hard and doing as much as you can in the 14-day trial period. This will allow you to get the most out of the software.

Cost Savings Way #2

You can purchase a product called Funnel Builder Secrets for $2997 – it gives you 12 months of the Platinum plan plus some additional bonuses. This saves you $567/year on the plan, which is a lot.

However, the Funnel Builder Secrets page doesn’t seem to be working at the time of writing this review. If you’re interested, keep checking or contact ClickFunnels and ask about it.

Cost Savings Way #3

There is actually a third ClickFunnels plan that is unadvertised and that not many people know about.

It’s called the Share Funnel Plan, and allows up to 3 funnels that have been shared with you through a Share Funnel link. You can edit these three funnels however you want, but you can’t add new funnels or pages.

This isn’t much, but it allows you to use ClickFunnels on a budget. The only way to get on the Share Funnel plan is to sign up for ClickFunnels through someone else’s share funnel link. You’ll need to check the “Limited Share Funnels Only” checkbox while signing up.

What I Recommend

So, what ClickFunnels plan would I recommend to you? Well, I would definitely recommend you start with the Starter Plan. If you find that you need more funnels and pages in your business, then you should upgrade to the Platinum Plan.

Keep in mind that you’re not going to find alternative platforms that can do what ClickFunnels does and offer a much cheaper price. This kind of software is expensive, mainly because it’s so powerful and it can easily explode the growth of a business. You’re going to have to wrap your head around making this kind of investment.

Frequently Asked Questions

In this section, I’m going to cover the most common questions that I get about ClickFunnels.

How good is ClickFunnels customer support?

Overall, I’d say it’s very good. ClickFunnels makes a real effort to resolve any difficulties you might have in the help documentation, but if you can’t find what you’re looking for in here, there are a couple of options.

Firstly, you can pose your questions to a “community expert”. These are users who know ClickFunnels very well and who work part time helping users with their issues.

Secondly, you can send in a support ticket. In this case, ClickFunnels will usually get back to you within 48 hours, but sometimes they take longer. One of the ways I think ClickFunnels lacks is that support can be a little slow to respond.

Secondly, you can ask any ClickFunnels questions in the official ClickFunnels Facebook group. This allows you to get input from an entire community.

Can ClickFunnels replace your website?

It depends on what you want your website to be.

If you want your site to be a blog with many articles, then generally, no. I recommend WordPress for blogs. If you want to create an agency website with an agency layout on a few pages, you could use ClickFunnels for it.

If you want to create a website for a brick-and-mortar business or a website that doesn’t focus on sales, then you could possibly create it on ClickFunnels, but I wouldn’t recommend it at all. ClickFunnels is designed to create sales funnels, with sales pages, forms, popups and buttons.

Is the ClickFunnels affiliate program free?

Yes, it is. In fact, you don’t even need to subscribe to a ClickFunnels plan to become an affiliate. And it just so happens that the ClickFunnels affiliate program has big potential to make you good money.

Consider this: if you get 3 people onto ClickFunnels as paid customers, you’ll be making more than the cost of the Starter Plan. This means that you’re essentially using ClickFunnels for free, and then some. And it’s really not difficult to get 3 people onto ClickFunnels when you know what you’re doing.

Is ClickFunnels a scam or a pyramid scheme?

Absolutely not. ClickFunnels is a powerful platform that allows you to create beautiful sales funnels by dragging and dropping.

As you can see on their website, they have (at the time of writing) 92,700 users, 5.29 million funnels have been processed on the platform, and $3.7 billion in payments has been processed.

ClickFunnels is actually what most of the big-name internet marketers (who make over 6 and 7 figures) use in their businesses.

What ClickFunnels integrations are available?

ClickFunnels offers many integrations. In addition to their own Follow-Up Funnels email service, they can integrate with other popular services like AWeber, InfusionSoft, GetResponse, and Mailchimp.

When it comes to payment gateways, ClickFunnels can integrate with PayPal, Stripe, WarriorPlus, Clickbank, JVZoo, and many others.

If PayPal can accommodate what you want to achieve for your payments, you should use it because it’s the most widespread payment processor out there. Otherwise, use Stripe.

How can I get involved with the ClickFunnels community?

In addition to smaller Facebook groups and communities, ClickFunnels has two main Facebook groups that you should join, as well as an internal forum for ClickFunnels users.

One Facebook group is the official ClickFunnels group (over 250,000 members at the time of writing), and the other is the ClickFunnels Avengers Facebook group (over 82,000 members) for affiliates.

Both groups are very active, and not only can you ask questions and get help, but moderators, admins, contributors and members regularly post tips and helpful content that can help you in your online business. It’s also a great way to stay on top of the latest happenings in the internet marketing space.

Funnel Hacker Forum

ClickFunnels has newly added what they call the Funnel Hacker Forum.

The forum is divided into multiple categories including funnels, copywriting and design, and is available only to ClickFunnels members. Here, you can participate in discussions and ask your own questions related to marketing and ClickFunnels.

ClickFunnels team members are also active in the forum, helping people and answering questions.

How To Succeed With ClickFunnels

There are many ways to succeed with ClickFunnels. Ultimately, what to do will depend on what business you’re in and what your objectives are.

Many businesses are looking to generate leads, and thus one of the most common funnels built in ClickFunnels is the opt-in funnel. ClickFunnels does a good job of explaining it in this video:

Now, let’s assume that you want to build funnels to boost sales (which I’m almost certain is the case). Then, what you should do is create the first rung of your value ladder, and that’s your lead magnet.

A lead magnet is something of value that you give to your audience for free in exchange for their information – usually an email address.

So, for example, if you’re an internet marketer in the business opportunity/MMO niche, you could offer a free lead magnet on how to get more traffic or optimize conversions. If you operate a car shop, you could offer free checks, oil changes, etc. If you’re a dentist, you could offer a free hygiene and checkup.

Once you have this sorted, you’ll need to come up with your back-end promotions: product offers that are related to your lead magnet. This is typically done in an email sequence.

You’ll use ClickFunnels to create the opt-in pages that will give away your lead magnet and collect lead information. I also advise creating a bridge page (or thank-you page) telling new subscribers what to do after they give you their info.
