Affilorama Review (2022) – Is It Worth Your Time?

This post contains affiliate links. You can go here to read the affiliate disclosure.

The rise of the Internet means that it has never been easier for people to make their own money from home and enjoy their own freedom without being tied to a traditional job.

Decades ago, starting a business often required a tremendous amount of upfront capital, and it certainly wasn’t for the faint of heart. Many wannabe entrepreneurs would take out big loans to finance their startup.

Times are different now. You can work online and make passive income without investing tens of thousands of dollars or slaving away 8+ hours a day. One of the best ways to do this is through affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing is a simple concept: promote someone’s product and get paid a commission for sales you make.

There are certainly a lot of programs and courses out there that claim to teach you how to prosper with affiliate marketing. Affilorama is one of them.

I became aware of and tried out Affilorama pretty early in my online money-making journey, and now I want to write an honest, comprehensive review of it so you can answer these questions for yourself:

How can Affilorama help me make an affiliate marketing income online?

Is it a good resource? Is it worth the investment?

If you’re interested in Affilorama (particularly in their paid offerings) and are on the fence, don’t make any decision until you’ve read this eye-opening review.

Here’s what I’m going to be covering:

If you’re ready to get access to the best affiliate marketing program, click the button below or scroll down to the bottom of my review to see my final verdict and recommendation!

What is Affilorama?

Affilorama Main Logo

Since you’re reading this review, you probably already have a pretty good idea of what Affilorama is.

Affilorama describes itself as “the largest affiliate marketing community and training website on the internet”. It contains articles, videos, and other resources that teach you how to promote other people’s products as an affiliate for big commissions.

Similar to other affiliate marketing training platforms like Wealthy Affiliate, Affilorama focuses on the creation of websites and creation of content for those websites. It tries to minimize hurdles and obstacles for people so they can fast-track their success.

Affilorama has been around for a while: it was founded way back in 2006 by Simon Slade and affiliate marketer Mark Ling. To date, it has over 900,000 members.

The Affilorama platform can be split into four main parts. They are:

1. Lessons

Affilorama Free Lessons Interface
Lessons centre

Without even signing up, you can access to a collection of text lessons that cover every aspect of building a successful affiliate marketing website. These lessons fall under the following categories:

  • Introduction
  • Market Research
  • Site Building
  • Content Creation
  • Marketing Ideas
  • SEO
  • PPC
  • Affiliate Outsourcing

There is a tremendous amount of content here, which is very valuable on its own.

However, if you sign up as an Affilorama member, which is free, you also get an affiliate marketing quick-start guide, downloadable success roadmap, and 120 video lessons that complement the article lessons mentioned above.

2. Product Offers

For those who are serious about building a successful affiliate marketing business, Affilorama offers three different products:

1. Pathway to Passive

Affilorama Pathway to Passive Cover

Considered “the ultimate read-me-first guide”, Pathway to Passive is a very affordable, all-in-one guide on how to build a successful affiliate website and long-term passive income.

It gives you a “bird’s eye view” of the steps you need to take. It goes over the classic mistakes that new affiliate marketers make, and what to avoid on your journey.

Pathway to Passive covers finding profitable niches and products, choosing the right keywords, creating content, and converting visitors.

2. AffiloTools

AffiloTools is Affilorama’s exclusive suite of online tools for marketers. It retrieves data related to your website from a range of different sources and presents them all in one place, in an easy-to-understand format.

Some of the tools that AffiloTools integrates with include Google Analytics, SEMrush, ClickBank, and Moz.

You can view detailed rankings data, view traffic trends, spy on competing websites, see backlink opportunities, and check the health of your site.

3. AffiloJetpack

AffiloJetpack is like a “business-in-a-box” solution for online marketers. It’s ideal for those who are daunted by the challenge of creating a website, creating content, and creating email forms and sequences.

You basically get a complete money-making system for five niches of your choice. For each niche, you get:

  • an expertly written email newsletter sequence
  • three quality lead magnets to attract leads
  • ebook graphics
  • a WordPress website setup with the AffiloTheme premium theme and included web hosting
  • done-for-you research that you can use to easily create content

This means that you get five DFY “business-in-a-box” affiliate websites that you can run with right away.

If you struggle to set up websites, can’t write content, or just don’t have time to do any of it, AffiloJetpack is something that might interest you. With that said, it’s not something I would pay for personally — I think it’s better in the long run to learn how to build your businesses yourself.

3. Blog

Affilorama Blog Roll Sample

Affilorama runs a blog that posts articles on a regular basis related to affiliate marketing. These articles contain nuggets of valuable information that you can use to optimize your business.

For example, you might find information about the top fitness affiliate programs (the most recent article at the time of writing), case studies, copywriting tips, or product reviews.

4. Forum

Affilorama Forum Interface

Affilorama runs a forum where you can ask questions and interact with other members of the affiliate marketing community.

Sub-forums include a hangout area, services, market research, social media, SEO, PPC, content creation, website building, and affiliate programs.

It’s a pretty substantial forum that is quite active. At the time of writing, more than 100,000 articles have been posted by forum users.

Affilorama Results

Regardless of the conclusions that I draw in this review, Affilorama is not a scam. Thousands of people have built full-time incomes by applying the concepts taught inside the platform.

Affilorama has been received very well by the online community. It has an impressive 4.9/5 rating on Trustpilot with over 285 reviews.

Affilorama also has many success stories, including:

  • George L. from Miami, FL: very satisfied with AffiloBlueprint, which taught him things he didn’t know and made a big difference in his results.
  • Joan S. from Canada: previously struggled with search engine rankings and PPC, but learned where she was going wrong from AffiloBlueprint. Since then, her online income increased by 700% and website traffic by 50%.
  • Fransisco B. from New Zealand: has been a member of Affilorama since 2006, and is now making well over $1000 after implementing the teachings.
  • Emily M. from Texas: didn’t have a clue how to make money online at first, but was very impressed with the course content and the guidance provided by co-founder Mark Ling.
  • Adrian B. from Canada: at the young age of 20, Adrian went through the training in Affilorama and is now earning more online than he earned working at his local car wash.

There are many more success, which you can check out on the main website.

A Quick Tour Of Affilorama

Let’s take a look at what you can find in Affilorama. Note that I won’t be covering any of the product offerings in this section.

The first thing you’ll want to do is sign up for a free membership. Enter in your name, an email and a password.

Affilorama Membership Signup Form

Then check for the confirmation email. After your confirm your email, you’ll be pushed to upgrade to Path2Passive; you don’t have to do so at this stage.

You’ll now be at this screen:

Affilorama Member Dashboard
Affilorama main members’ dashboard

At this point, you can download the quick-start guide and roadmap for making money online. In addition, you’ll be able to view all of the videos contained in the Affilorama lessons.

From the dashboard, it’s easy to pick up any of the three Affilorama products. At a glance, you can see the latest blog posts, tweets, and forum posts. You can also view your inbox and edit your profile.

A support phone number is conveniently located at the top of the screen, with the support center just a click away.

Lessons

Now let’s have a look at the main lessons.

Clicking on the “Lessons” navigation item, you’ll see each chapter laid out one after the other. You can scroll to and click on any lesson within a chapter.

Affilorama Chapter 1 Lessons

You should obviously start from the beginning (“Essential Resources Every New Affiliate Marketer Needs”), and even if you have experience with affiliate marketing, I still recommend working through the lessons in order.

I’ll pick the random example “Using FTP with FileZilla” in the “Site Building” chapter.

This lesson shows you step-by-step how to set up FTP and manipulate files on your website. At the top is a video that goes through the process visually — you need to be an Affilorama member to view it.

Affilorama Lesson Sample

Underneath the lesson are questions & comments that other users have left. If you want, you can leave a comment yourself.

That’s pretty much all there is to know. It’s straightforward to work through the lessons, but it can take a good amount of time to finish them all.

Blog & Forum

The blog and forum are easy to get to from the top navigation.

Note that you need to sign up for an account before you can post on the forum. You can also add forum and blog posts to your favorites (accessible in the very top menu) for easy access later.

What I Like About Affilorama

Here are what I believe are the greatest strengths of Affilorama:

1. The training is thorough and the concepts work.

Money bag

Affilorama teaches you how to create and grow money-making niche websites.

There’s no doubt that this method works, and I know this because it’s how I myself make the majority of my online income. It has worked for a long time and will continue to work in the future.

In fact, I think it’s one of the best online businesses that anyone can get into, regardless of whether or not you have a previous education in business.

With that said, it doesn’t yield results overnight. It requires consistent effort over a period of time, and many people can’t or aren’t willing to put in that effort.

2. The website is fast and easy to use.

Speedometer illustration

I love moving around the Affilorama website. It’s very fast, with an intuitive user interface that has been optimized over the past 14 years.

The grey background is easy on the eyes. The top menus and footer links take you absolutely everywhere you need to go. The help center is fleshed out.

There’s nothing worse than a slow, poorly-designed website; you don’t have to worry about that with Affilorama.

3. You can get a lot of information for free.

Blue information icon

One of the things about Affilorama that impressed me the most is that they offer their main affiliate marketing course for free.

Aside from watching the videos, you don’t even have to sign up with them. Anyone can hop on their website and start reading through their articles.

On one hand, this suggests that the training isn’t the most valuable you can get online. But it still provides a ton of relevant, actionable information that can get you on the path to online success.

The forum is also a good place to get a lot of valuable information, although it’s less active than it used to be.

4. Support is excellent.

Affilorama Support Options

Nearly everyone I’ve heard and seen talk about Affilorama has praised their support. Both email and phone support are offered in addition to community support on the forum.

In my limited experience with support, I’ve been satisfied. Support agents usually get back to you quickly, speak good English, and are helpful.

The live chat agent currently being featured on the home page does seem to be foreign, but that’s neither here nor there.

What I Don’t Like About Affilorama

1. Much of the content is outdated.

Starting way back in 2006 had its benefits — Affilorama had time to build up a community and improve itself for well over a decade. The biggest issue with this, however, is that the content became outdated over time.

As far as I know, Ling and Slade have made a real effort to keep the training within Affilorama up-to-date with the latest strategies and methods. However, the sheer amount of content makes it difficult to do this, and consequently, much of the training just isn’t quite relevant to today.

For example, the training might link to products that are no longer available or reference software that no longer exists or has changed substantially.

The core concepts definitely still hold up, but you might get frustrated at the outdatedness of some of the content.

2. It doesn’t give you the big picture of affiliate marketing.

Picture of cityscape on the wall

I’ll expand on this more later in the review, but it’s worth noting that Affilorama almost exclusively focuses on one method of affiliate marketing: building niche websites, creating content for them, and attracting organic search engine traffic.

Affilorama also goes over PPC, but that’s about it.

While building websites is one of the best methods, there’s so much more to affiliate marketing: email marketing, sales funnels, various paid traffic methods, etcetera.

It’s possible to learn more about affiliate marketing by looking through the blog and forums, but this is much more of an afterthought.

The more flexible you are in your online marketing, and the less dependent you are on any one asset or traffic source, the better off you’ll be.

3. The paid product offers aren’t very compelling.

Average star rating graphic

I personally wouldn’t buy any of the products that Affilorama offers. That’s not to say they’re crap, but they just don’t seem necessary given the free training that they already offer.

The first product, Pathway to Passive, is pretty cheap but seems too similar to the free training, showing you how to build a successful affiliate website.

AffiloTools looks pretty cool, but I already have all the tools I need and don’t need a new interface for it.

AffiloJetpack is Affilorama’s DFY website solution. While it’s awesome to have a money-making website set up for you, it’s very expensive, and it discourages you from being self-sufficient in your business. I would say it’s the most viable offer out of the three, but I still don’t think it’s worth it.

Affilorama Product Pricing

As you probably know by now, Affilorama offers three straightforward products as part of their paid lineup.

Affilorama Paid Product Summaries

How much do they cost? Let’s get into it:

Product #1: Pathway to Passive

This is Affilorama’s educational product and it costs $37.

It’s a guide that gives you an all-in-one content strategy for building successful, long-term affiliate marketing websites. It teaches you how to choose profitable niches, target the right keywords, monetize your site properly, and create quality content that attracts links.

It’s not as in-depth as other affiliate marketing courses, but it gives you a good roadmap for success.

Product #2: AffiloTools

This is Affilorama’s online business tool offering. It’s currently in beta and is free to try out.

It consolidates website data from a multitude of different sources including Google Analytics, Twitter, Moz, and SEMrush, and displays it in a convenient all-in-one dashboard.

The idea behind AffiloTools is that you can view all the website data you need in one place instead of having to hop from tool to tool.

I’ve never had issues with my tools, so I don’t personally have a need for AffiloTools right now. If it doesn’t make you particularly excited, I wouldn’t bother with it, especially considering it’s still in beta.

Product #3: AffiloJetpack 2.0

AffiloJetpack main logo

AffiloJetpack is Affilorama’s DFY business solution. The latest 2.0 release costs $997.

It’s essentially a DFY affiliate marketing solution that gives you “the complete money-making system” for five different websites.

As I mentioned in an earlier section of the review, this system consists of email newsletter sequences, lead magnets, a special website theme, web hosting, DFY website setup, and content research.

What I Recommend

Which Affilorama product would I recommend to you? None of them, really.

I’m not saying they’re bad products — they’re not. But I just don’t think any of them are particularly necessary for a person looking to make money from home.

There’s nothing stopping you from trying them out, and you’ll surely benefit from it.

With that said, I do think there are better options out there if you want to get your affiliate marketing business off the ground. More on that below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who owns Affilorama?

Affilorama is owned by Doubledot Media, a company that develops web applications and builds solutions for online businesses.

Simon Slade is the CEO of Affilorama, and well-known affiliate marketer Mark Ling is the co-founder.

Is Affilorama a scam or a pyramid scheme?

Affilorama may have shortcomings, but it’s not a scam. It’s an affiliate marketing training solution that delivers the features it claims to offer, namely training that works and a real community.

Affilorama customer comments
Customer testimonials

Whether or not the paid offers are worth buying is another matter, but consider the fact that they’ve been in business since 2006 and have thousands of members that have seen real results.

You can read more about this in the Results section of my review.

How does Affilorama work?

Affilorama is an affiliate marketing community as much as it is a training resource.

If you want to learn about affiliate marketing, the first thing you should do is sign up for a free membership. Once that’s done, you can look at the quick-start guide and roadmap, and then dive into the free lessons.

There are a lot of lessons to go through. If you’re confused or stuck on something, you can always leave a comment, contact support, or jump onto the forum.

Reading the blog and being active in the forum are optional, but it can be very helpful for your business.

At any point, you can upgrade to one or more of Affilorama’s paid products. These will help you even more to build a successful affiliate website, but they’re by no means essential.

Does Affilorama have an affiliate program?

Yes, and it’s a pretty good one. It’s free to join and the commission rate is 50% on all products.

Affilorama provides solid affiliate resources to help with promotions, and they also have a dedicated affiliate support team. You can sign up here.

How does Affilorama compare with Wealthy Affiliate?

Affilorama vs. Wealthy Affiliate Logos

In many ways, Affilorama and Wealthy Affiliate are very similar.

  1. Both platforms provide training that teach you about affiliate marketing, specifically how to build successful niche websites.
  2. Both have a large community of beginner and experienced marketers.
  3. Both platforms were started over a decade ago at around the same time (2005 and 2006).

The main difference lies in the payment models.

While both platforms have memberships, Affilorama offers their main affiliate marketing training and roadmap for free, with optional paid product offerings.

On the other hand, to access Wealthy Affiliate’s full training and the rest of the platform’s features, you need to become a paid member at $49/month. You must stay a paid member to use their hosting and even promote their platform as an affiliate.

I’m not recommending one platform over the other, but Affilorama’s business model is definitely more consumer-friendly because much of the content and features can be accessed at no cost.

If you want to learn more about Wealthy Affiliate, read my review here.

Is Affilorama good for beginners?

Absolutely, and in fact, the training was built with beginners in mind.

You don’t have to have any previous knowledge of affiliate marketing; simply start from the beginning of the training and work through it in order.

An Alternative Program

Affilorama has some solid free content for affiliate marketing, but at the end of the day, it’s an outdated platform that passed its prime a long time ago.

In fact, I wouldn’t recommend you bother with Affilorama at all. When it comes to the education you need to succeed with affiliate marketing and online marketing in general, there are better options out there — options that will get you to where you want to go quicker and more easily.

One such option that I want to to recommend to you right now is a training program called Savage Affiliates.

Why I Recommend Savage Affiliates

Savage Affiliates Logo

First off, what is Savage Affiliates? It’s a full affiliate marketing course created by 7-figure marketer Franklin Hatchett that walks you through everything you need to know to make a full-time income online.

Frank teaches you the cutting-edge affiliate marketing methods and strategies that work today. He teaches you how to build an online business from the ground up, with methods that he has used himself to achieve amazing results.

In addition to this, you get full access to a private Facebook group where you can share results, ask questions, and help others. This community consists of Savage Affiliates customers and Frank himself, who you can talk to one-on-one.

The course contains 10 video modules, each with 5-20 videos walking you through every step of the process. It’s better than Affilorama because:

1. It teaches you more.

Affilorama almost exclusively focuses on building up and marketing niche affiliate blogs.

This is a great method, but there’s more to affiliate marketing than just these kinds of websites.

Savage Affiliates gives you a much bigger picture. Not only does it walk you through website and content creation, but it also goes in-depth into:

  • email marketing in general (not just based around a blog)
  • the best places to find digital and physical products
  • how to build backlinks to improve your search engine rankings
  • sending paid traffic (Facebook Ads, Google Ads, etc.) to funnels and landing pages that aren’t blogs
  • using other free traffic sources aside from search engines, including YouTube and Quora

Savage Affiliates teaches you many different business models under the umbrella of affiliate marketing. This allows you to choose a method that suits you the most.

In contrast, the main training of Affilorama is quite narrow in its scope, which gives you a lot less flexibility in what you do.

2. You only pay once and get everything.

Savage Affiliates offers two different payment options, and both are one-time payments.

Savage Affiliates 2.0 Pricing & Features

Once you pay, you get everything, including access to the private inner circle. You also get all future course updates for free.

The model for Affilorama is more confusing. Membership is free, but you’re always being pushed to upgrade to a paid product. There are three different products, each with their own price (AffiloTools is likely to be recurring), and many people struggle with deciding whether to stay free or go paid.

3. It’s up-to-date and current.

Probably the biggest shortcoming of Affilorama is that the training is outdated. I would go so far as to say that entire sections of the training are near useless because of this.

Savage Affiliates is, for the most part, up-to-date. It was first created a couple of years ago, and since then, Frank has come out with several major updates to the course.

He recently came out with a major 2.0 update to Savage Affiliates, adding the latest strategies and techniques for success, and he’s currently working on yet another update.

When it comes down to it, Savage Affiliates is hot and in-the-game, while Affilorama has kind of fallen out of it.

Savage Affiliates Bonuses

Bonus Package Icon

What’s more, I’m offering a tailored bonus package for those who try Savage Affiliates under my link. These bonuses are going to be a great help to you in your quest to build a successful affiliate marketing business.

You can see what these bonuses are in my Savage Affiliates review.

Once you purchase Savage Affiliates, send an email to me at paul@thefreedomfellow.com with the name you purchased under. Once I confirm the purchase, I’ll send over the bonuses.

Conclusion

Affilorama is a platform that provides decent and free affiliate marketing training, some useful blog posts, and a helpful community. But while it was a great option for affiliate marketing education back in the day, it’s too outdated for me to recommend now.

Unless you’re absolutely broke with no money to invest, the time you spend going through their outdated training is much better spent taking other, better courses that have come onto the scene recently.

Instead of Affilorama, the affiliate marketing training that I would recommend is Savage Affiliates.

Savage Affiliates has no ongoing membership fees. It not only provides a training program that is more up-to-date and detailed than Affilorama, but it also provides an active inner-circle private community that can answer your questions and address your issues.

Just pick it up and give it a try. If it doesn’t work for you, you can refund it within 30 days.

Thanks for reading my Affilorama review. Note that I am an affiliate for Savage Affiliates. The views expressed here are my own and are not official statements by Franklin Hatchett.
